June 25 at the "Mordovia Arena" was the third match in the World Cup. The Saransk arena met the national teams of Iran and Portugal. The match was attended by 41685 spectators, which is a new record of attendance of the "Mordovia Arena".

At the spectator stands on this day, along with the head of Mordovia, Vladimir Volkov, the game was watched by high guests, including the Prime Minister of Portugal Antonio Luis Santos Costa, who arrived in Saransk the day before, as well as the Portuguese Ambassador to Russia Paulo Viseu Pinheiro. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mehdi Sana'i and Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masud Soltanifar arrived in Saransk to support the Iranian national team.
